Had a similar problem some time ago, the spade connectors on the coil were loose causing coil to overheat and come to a spluttering halt...... engine re-starting ok after cooling down. Tightened up connections and bingo!!

I had exactly the same problem as Willie...i.e. the two connections on the coil had worked slightly loose. I would be driving along merrily then after about 5 miles would grind to a halt with classic symptoms of overheating and would not restart for around twenty to thirty minutes after. Needless to...

This is common on Minors, especially with dynamo fitted.
The reason the ignition light flickers on idling is the dynamo is not actually charging the battery. When revs increase the ignition light extinguishes and charging recommences.

So nothing to worry about !
