Remote brake assist servo - how they work

Hi, can anyone explain for me the operation of the remote brake servo? I have got mine out, and am about to replace it with a new one. I was hoping the old one would be seized but that doesn't seem to be the case. Can't find anything on youtube about remote servos, only those with the brake pedal as...

Re: Brakes - symptom

Hi, thanks for the advice. Not tried bleeding yet with engine running. Will try first bleeding at banjo bolt engine off, if that doesn't work, will do same engine on. If not joy then, will try cracking open other union junctions points and do same.

Re: Brakes - symptom

All drums, properly adjusted. IMG_8781a.jpg IMG_8775a.jpg IMG_8779a.jpg Brake pipe comes in from master, up to servo, out from end of servo and down to a junction piece then on to both back and front. I'll post a few photos here, if there are any other perspectives that will help let me know and can...

Brakes - symptom

Hi, so after bleeding several times, this is what I get. First press, pedal near to floor, second press, pedal half way and firm. Brakes working well or seem to be. Replaced m/c, all slaves, flexi pipes, copper pipe across axle. Bled x3, going from furthest from m/c to nearest. Realise now it has a ...

Here's mine, thanks, I will clean contacts. Have already cleaned terminals, found some corrosion on lead from pump to earth at body of pump. Back to brakes for now as still not right...

Re: electric fuel pump?

Tapping the fuel pump did the trick, hoping it might continue to work ok now. Thanks very much for the input :tu1: Geoberni - The car has only done around 100 miles or so in that four years. I've spent a lot of my spare time fixing things done incorrectly or not well enough, by the previous owner's ...

electric fuel pump?

Hi, well now it seems the fuel pump has stopped working....doh! Normally I can hear it ticking 3 or 4 times when I switch on the ignition. Car is turning over with spark, no smell of fuel under bonnet. I guess it's somewhere at the back, in the tank? Can anyone suggest a reasonable course of action ...

Re: Tachometer wiring check

Hi Chrischris, yes and when last tried the tacho was working fine, but I disconnected due to a breakdown, initially thought to be caused by coil failure. That turned out to be failure of the ignition sensor/module and on further investigation, failure possibly due to incompatibility between sensor f...

Re: Tachometer wiring check

Thinking about induction, though the effect might be slight, the wire wrapped around the other will induce and be induced into current flow. I guess this might either feed back to the module, if it's sensitive enough, or confuse the signal going to the coil. Either way, it's not ideal I would think....

Re: Tachometer wiring check

That's partly why I'm posting the question. The red wire is longer though they might have simply cut the black wire down. I could cut it down to proper length to suit the distance between module and coil? Is there another solution without cutting it that would be preferable?

Tachometer wiring check

Hi, after many weeks of messing about replacing my rear axle casing, I'm finally ready to re attach my tachometer wires. I had a breakdown about a year ago now, finally, after much wrangling found a mismatch between the module and the coil as fitted to the car when I purchased it. To simplify things...

rear drums VB1 and VB2

I may have sorted this myself soon but just a quicky. My rear drums are marked vb1 and vb2, can't find any reference to this? Any thoughts?

Re: Half shaft refit - handedness?

Thank you. I then found some kind more thoughtful individual had painted a big 'R' and a big 'L' on the end of the half shaft, but thought the answers would be useful to someone, if not me in future.

Half shaft refit - handedness?

Hi, about to refit, of course, only now do I think about 'handedness'.

Not having kept track I have a 50% chance of getting it right. Will the 'right' one feel different to the 'wrong' one?

I've been looking for some but ESM seem to be out of stock. Where can I buy and would I need to shave a little material away from the hook part?
