Re: Fuel gauge reading half-full when empty

Hi all, thanks very much for your comments. I have a confession and apology ……..I submitted my initial post without checking the car, and after managing to wrestle the car from my daughter today I realised that it has a black face speedo and fuel gauge fitted, not the gold type! Apologies for the co...

Fuel gauge reading half-full when empty

1966 2 door saloon with gold speedo and fuel gauge. The needle on the fuel gauge moves properly when ignition turned off/on, i.e. the gauge reads empty when ignition is off and when the ignition is turned on it moves to between half-way and full. It reads full when tank is full. My problem is the fu...

Is there a Floor Repair Panel available?

Hi, my 1966 2 door saloon has rusted through the forward part of the boot floor at the sides, above the axle bump stops, immediately in front of the rear chassis rails (the area where the three domed areas of the floor are).
Is there a repair panel available for this particular area?

Re: Metal parcel shelf

I have used 4mm plywood with black vinyl stuck to it. Really pleased with it and has not distorted or sagged yet. I used a large bit of cardboard to make a template, then transferred that shape to the plywood. If you stick black vinyl to the plywood ensure you leave plenty of vinyl to wrap around th...

Re: Car will start and occasionally drive a few miles, then splutters and stops!

Following advice, I rechecked and cleaned the pump points. I also cleaned up one of the mounting point holes to ensure there was a good earth. Checked pump power supply ….no problem. Checked earth resistance….no problem. Then checked the carburettor float bowl….empty! Blew through the delivery hose ...

Car will start and occasionally drive a few miles, then splutters and stops!

1966 two door saloon with a 1098cc engine and standard carb. When this first happened I removed the fuel hose from the carburettor and turned the ignition on….there was no clicking sound from the pump and no fuel came out of the hose. When I tapped the fuel pump it started clicking and pumped fuel o...

Re: Front disc conversion query

Thanks for your replies guys.
Just to get this straight in my head, I use the Lockheed brake master cylinder with a non-vented filler plug and remove the seal as shown in the diagram….is that correct?

Front disc conversion query

I have just bought the Marina disc conversion kit from ESM, along with the remote reservoir and the Lockheed master cylinder (as the advert for the remote reservoir said it was not compatible with original pattern master cylinder). Is there anything else I need before starting this project? Also, I ...
