Re: anti roll bars

Thank you for your answer, I forgot to add that my Minor has been fitted with telescopic shock absorbers ( front and back ) and as I have not finished the jobs I need to do on her yet, I still haven't driven any distance so cannot say if I feel it needs an anti-roll bar, but of course, all modern ca...

anti roll bars

I know this has been covered before but I would like to know the thoughts of those who have fitted them and have they found them worthwhile, some say it gives the car excessive understeer, all I want is to improve cornering without any negative effects.

Re: Minor Seats

I am in the process of repairing the vinyl seat covering, over the years it has developed some splits which I have repaired by glueing a patch behind the split and when dry I over-stitch it, I am the car's ninth owner and its 61 years old so I suppose it's done well with all the bums its had in it, ...

Re: Minor Seats

I have stripped my seats down and resprayed the metal frame, ( I found a shilling in the foam rubber ) I need to repair a few small splits in the covers before I put them back together, I went to a few local car breakers to look at seats from a Fiat 500, Ford KA and a Micra, but they were in very po...

Re: Seats

I am about to refoam my Morris seats but wish at some time soon to change them for some more modern and adjustable seats with head restraints, I have seen many recommendations but would like to know what the best straight swap seats are, comments, please.

split personality wiper arms

I am having trouble finding wiper arms for my 63 Minor, the arms for the 63-onward models are too long and the arms for the split screen models have a smaller spline, It is a problem knowing what to buy as anyone with this model will know, this is a clap hands car but not a split screen  I can...

Re: Tyre sizes and supplier recommendations Taunton or Newton abbot areas

I live not far from Newton Abbot and was once employed at National Tyres, I have purchased a set of 5.1/2 j steel wheels that look a perfect match for the original Morris wheels except of course they are wider and settled on a set of Kumho 165/70/14 tyres to match, but found a problem when trying to...

Re: Minor Seats

I have been looking at the seat foam kits and have decided to make my own, I purchased a piece of high-density foam 4" thick 20" wide by 46" long, this is for refoaming sofas and beds but is half the price of the car kits, I have used this before to make cushions and it cuts easy with...

Re: Calling Paignton

Paignton is a nice town with the sea and walks and of course the steam railway, but like a lot of places it can be let down by the falling standards of people living here.

Motortronic Distributors

Has anyone had any dealings with Motortronic Electronic Distributors, I have seen one advertised as a replacement for the 25D, it is priced at a moderate level and I wondered about the quality.

Re: Minor Seats

Yes, that's right, It's a split-personality model, I went out into my carport to buff the paintwork this morning but it was so hot the buffing compound dried on the body in a few seconds, and under the cover of the carport it is like a greenhouse.

Re: Minor Seats

Thanks for your input, I am still going through all the jobs that need doing. My minor is a 1963 model that has the 1098cc engine but retains the clap hands wipers small lights, and banjo steering wheel, it seems this was a change over model, past owners have done a lot of work on her including a re...

Minor Seats

When I first sat in my minor I felt like a little boy sitting at the adult's table, I couldn't see out the window, now I know I am not tall but this was ridiculous, as there is no height adjustment I purchased some rubber blocks to put under the seat to lift it a bit, but even with these it still wa...

Re: its a bit of a shock.

Yes, you all are right, I don't enjoy motorway driving now anyway as driving slower gives me time to relax and enjoy the drive, I haven't taken my Moggie out on the road yet as I wanted to go through everything first to make sure all is safe and check all parts, ( I have hit my head on the bonnet ab...

Re: Vacuum Advance.

I am about to undertake fitting a New Vacuum unit to mine as I noticed it's not working and the last owner stuck the pipe to the unit using mastic sealer, which of course blocked the pipe up, I have an electronic ignition already fitted, but reading this post is inspiring, Thanks.

its a bit of a shock.

Many years ago when I was in my 20s I had an MK1 Ford Escort, it was a 1100L with drum brakes, no power steering and was very basic, I never thought much about it then as it was the way cars were in those days, but as time went on and my cars changed, I got used to modern motors and I now have a Hon...

Re: Brakelights

Thank you, everyone, for your help, I have traced the headlight problem down to a dodgy switch, and have been lucky to find a new replacement ( it might just need a good cleaning but it is 61 years :tu1: old and a new one is better ). I am learning as I go with this car but enjoying every minute.
