Back to normal? Almost. Our branch rally in July was a success with over 50 vehicles - see a report on page 42. We have started monthly meets again at The Bell and, over the winter months, will be entertaining ourselves indoors with pub grub and a few non-car related activities. Let’s face it, nobody wants to be standing around an open bonnet in a car park in December. We have quite a few plans for 2022, so stay in touch with us on Facebook or Instagram. The branch meets on the second Thursday of every month at The Bell Inn, CV6 2FN.

Some branch members attended the Ombersley Classic and Vintage car event in June. We held
a very socially distanced branch BBQ in June, our first branch event for over a year. Branch members have also finally been able to visit rallies, the most recent being the Car Rally at Ombersley on June 26 and our branch rally
at Burford house on July 25. The branch rally was a great success with 40 cars being allowed to attend due to Covid-19 restrictions. They ranged from an immaculate Series MM to a J-reg pickup alongside a good selection of other vintage and classic cars. A big thank you to all the organisers, the Burford House team and also to everyone who came along to the rally and made it such a success.

Some of the branch members went to the MMOC Picnic at Kelmarsh Hall and reported that it was a very good day. It was nice to see friends there who we had not seen for 18 months or more. We had our Hilly Billy Ice Cream run which always goes down well. It was up hill and down dale through some interesting and different country lanes; we made our way to Blaze Farm where they do some fantastic flavours of ice cream. We had chance to have
a good catch up with Marilyn and Martyn
for many years for our club and sponsored the Perpetual Shield. He will be greatly missed. Branch Contact: Kathy Ling

South East Staffordshire Marilyn Westley Due to Covid-19 there weren’t many MMOC branch rallies to go to so, Marilyn joined up with the South Staffs MG Club to attend classic car events. We all went to Middleton Hall in June that was very enjoyable although there was a restricted attendance for vehicles.
We had our first branch meeting in June that was attended by two prospective members, Steve Baker and Jerry Peterson. The night was taken up by looking at Jerry’s car that had
a small problem that was soon sorted. The following weekend saw Marilyn and Martyn
go to Autofest 2021 at Stoke Prior in both their Minors together with the MG Club. It was very
Westley who came on the run and brought Jerry with them who is a new member of their branch and came along in the Traveller that was his Lockdown project. After Blaze Farm, we headed towards Macclesfield and went down some windy country lanes that were very pleasant but we were stopped by a cyclist. He told us that we had to turn around because of an accident and an ambulance blocking the road! After a lot of manoeuvring, we did so and were on our way again. We landed in Macclesfield and called at the chip shop then off into Macclesfield Forest to eat our chips with a cup of tea, a natter and
a laugh. A good day had by all. Thanks to all our members and visitors who came along and made the event a good one.

It was great to be back on the road again with our Moggies. We had a good turn out at the Abbey at Shrewsbury and our next meeting was at Ellesmere.
It is sad news to report that John Batho passed away. John was a longstanding member of the Shropshire club and also the Treasurer
well attended by various makes of cars. Also in June we went to Chetwynd Deer Park with the MG Club, Marilyn in her Minor and Martyn in his MGB GT. In their Minors, they also took part in a run with the local transport group to various care homes in the Willenhall area.
July saw us joining Potteries Branch for their Hilly Billy Ice Cream run. We decided to go in Martyn’s MGB but our new member, Jerry, also came for the drive. It was a fun drive for the afternoon with ice cream half way round and ending with a fish and chip tea. The next day saw Marilyn and Martyn in their Minors at the BLMC show at Gaydon. It was attended by an array of Leyland and Morris cars and every car park was full.
